COVID-19 April and May 2021 press release

Following the portuguese government economic reopening plan, the cave reoppened on April 6th and from April 30th on their normal working hours. According to the new government measures, the caves ticket office will work from 10:30 am to 06:00 pm on weekdays and from 10:00 am to 06:00 pm on weekends and holly days.

The restaurant reopened on April 20th 2021 and starting April 30th will open daily for lunch service from 12:00am to 03:00pm and for dinner service from 07:00pm to 10:00 only by booking.

The Cave Houses are working normally.

The return of the tours will be in accordance to the safety measures listed by sanitation authorities due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

On the return to the active state, the caves will have new schedules, the use of mask is mandatory in all spaces.

On this new faze that we have to live with the pandemic, we must make several behavioral changes both personally and professionally. Thus, in order to ensure the protection and safety of all those who visit the patrimony administered by the Grutas de Mira de Aire, work process and the conditions to access the spaces were reviewed, with the following measures taken:

Protection facial masks are mandatory in all spaces (inner and outer spaces).
Maximum persons per group: 15 persons.
During the tour gloves provided by the company are mandatory.
On inner spaces, the use of mask is mandatory and the admission conditioned, in order to avoid gathering of masses.
Payments should be made preferably by bank card and cash use should be avoided.
There will be signs in order to respect the minimum safety distance.
The Grutas de Mira de Aire staff members with be using face protection masks as well as other personal protection equipments.
All the spaces cleaning frequency and systematic disinfection will be reinforced, with special focus on the areas with higher flow of visitors (such as service desks, cafeteria, toilets, etc.)
The Grutas de Mira de Aire, SA has joined the Turismo de Portugal, IP (National Board of Tourism) initiative and has obtained the “Clean and Safe” seal of approval, compromising to follow an intern protocol, guided by the National Health Care System (DGS) guaranteeing the appliance of safety procedures in order to reduce the risk of contagion by COVID-19 during its touristic activities.

The company is following the evolution of COVID-19 in Portugal and the guidelines of national health authorities, which are accompanied permanently in order to adjust the adopted measures according to the different needs and determined circumstances.
